Yeah, sure, you know all about platform training. Pivot bowls, position platforms… But are you up-to-date on all the creative ways trainers are using them? Join Michele Pouliot for this webinar that goes Beyond Basic Platform Training.

Since Michele’s first Platform Training DVD in 2010, trainers all over the world have been discovering the power and simplicity of this training tool. What began as the development of specific platform training methods has evolved to an international platform phenomenon! Over the past 8 years Michele has expanded, experienced, and discovered even more versatility in raised platforms.

Competition dog sports challenge trainers to develop very precise behaviors in a variety of scenarios. Platforms can provide a communication tool that puts clarity in our training conversation with our dogs.

This presentation assumes a basic knowledge of using raised platforms (both 2 paw and 4 paw platforms) for training foundation skills. Although some fundamentals information will be included, this webinar will focus on more advanced and creative ways of applying the platform tool in training and problem solving.

Deb Jones - Finding Your Center: Achieving a Balance Between Stress, Arousal, Motivation & Control

Date: Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018
Time: 6pm Pacific Time (Click here for time at FDSA (Pacific Time).
Fee: $19.95 - Registration required PRIOR to scheduled presentation time.

Join Deb in this webinar as she explores the topics of stress, arousal, motivation, and control, and discusses how all these apply to training our dogs. What is stress and how is it related to arousal? Deb will review a few of the more well-known psychological theories in this area, as well as discuss the physical changes that accompany changes in stress and arousal levels.

If you could build the perfect dog he would have the perfect balance between motivation and control. Too much of one or the other makes living with, training, and showing your dog difficult. A dog who is too high and who easily gets overly excited and aroused has trouble focusing and concentrating on the task at hand. A dog who is too low in interest and enthusiasm and is overly inhibited makes it very difficult to develop teamwork and mutual enjoyment. However, none of this is under the dog’s conscious control. Our dogs are at the mercy of forces both beyond and within them.

What can we do to help our dogs learn to change and manage their arousal levels? Deb will present exercises designed to help your dog move between different states more comfortably. She will also talk about how to evaluate your dog’s emotional comfort vs. skill level and determine whether you have an arousal issue or a training one.

Note: A recorded version will be made available in your webinar library 24-48 hours after the presentation.

Petra Ford - Getting the same performance in competition as in training

Date: Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018
Time: 6pm Pacific Time (Click here for time at FDSA (Pacific Time).
Fee: $19.95 - Registration required PRIOR to scheduled presentation time.

How is your personal awareness in training? Are you the same with your body, voice, praise, etc. in training and in competition? If you’re not sure, then you're probably not!

In this webinar, we will discuss how to provide the same picture to your dog in both training and in the ring. By developing this consistency, your ring performance will improve dramatically as your dog takes comfort from your familiar demeanor and handling. This, in turn, will decrease your dog’s stress and increase the likelihood that your dog will be successful where it matters the most - in competition!

Note: A recorded version will be made available in your webinar library 24-48 hours after the presentation.
